This piece of made up of three separate parts. The top and bottom white sections have a thin layer of silver foil which creates sparkles almost like glitter in the right light. The middle section is made up of various small triangular in circular tiles which are made specifically to create this pattern Based on a traditional Japanese and Tibetan textile or other decorative patterns inspired by stars or hemp leaves. The hemp plant was used to create strong fabric and rope in the olden days.
The whole surface of the vessel has been carved with a diamond lathe to create graceful lines meandering down across the vessel giving it a sense of being made of fabric. Various thickness of the glass actually cast shadows on the opaque white layers underneath. It is finished in a satin/matte texture that hints at ether materials than the glass from which is is made.
